Ambulatory Withdrawal Management- Detox

Medical Withdrawal Management from (opioids, alcohol and sedatives, such as Xanax) is conducted by licensed medical providers and offers the confidentiality, privacy, and dignity of detoxing at home.  Our program allows individuals to continue to attend work and school, and is a fraction of the cost of an inpatient hospitalization.

 

Eligibility criteria:

  • Adults 18+
  • Regular use of a substance that requires medically assisted detox, and intention to receive appropriate relapse prevention treatment after detox
  • Availability of a responsible adult friend or family member to be present at the daily appointments and to help monitor the client at home
  • Agreement to terms and requirements of the treatment

Pharmacotherapy-
Medication Assisted Treatment

Medication assistance has been proven to be the most successful tool for opioid (pain pills, heroin) addiction treatment.  Our treatment uses Bupenorphine (Suboxone), Naltrexone (Vivitrol), and other supportive medications.

 

Our Medication Assisted Treatment will be provided by Utah state-licensed medical providers.  Our Medical Director is a medical doctor with a specialty in addiction and will oversee all medical procedures.

 

Our clinical team, including licensed therapists, counselors and other support staff, provides specialized substance use and co-occurring disorders counseling services in addition to treatment for trauma.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) includes 9 hours of therapy per week of curriculm-specific programming (3 hours per session, 3 times a week).  Lear more about our program schedule here.

 

The program incorporates best practice components from leading experts in the field of Addiction Medicine.  Our credentialed facilitators, including licensed mental health counselors, LCSWs, LMHCs, MSWs and SUDCs, are all under the supervision of our Medical Director.

 

Ascendant’s IOP is a trauma-informed program.  The addiction programming incorporates mutual self-help and community-based sober support.  The behavioral health programming may include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

 

Support Services include programs such as:

  • Art and Music Therapy
  • Reiki
  • Life Skills Building
  • Guided Imagery

A Case Manager is assigned to each client in day treatment or IOP to ensure:

 

  • All appointments are made and kept
  • Medications are obtained and accessed
  • Connections to appropriate support groups and community activities are made
  • The client is empowered to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.
Standard Outpatient Program

Standard outpatient counseling is offered by highly qualified clinicians specializing in the treatment of addictions and co-occurring disorders.  Many of our therapists specialize in the treatment for trauma and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) which is recognized as one  of the most effective forms of trauma treatment.

We value wellness in treatment and integrate it into all levels of care.  Our wellness approach includes the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration’s 8 Dimensions of Wellness- Emotional, Enviornmental, Financial, Intellectual, Occupational, Physical Social and Spiritual.

Onsite Toxicology Laboratory

Since its inception, Ascendant has operated a CLIA licensed laboratory that provides fast, accurate, and consistent client test results.

 

Laboratory testing is an integral component of treatment.  It is a therapuetic tool used to:

  • Assess client’s Substance Use Disorder
  • Develop appropriate and individualized treatment plans
  • Confirm client’s compliance with treatment
  • Confirm if client is taking other substances which may affect treatment or cause harm
  • Validate non-use and rule-out medical neccessity
